Core Parking is a "green" sleep state that dynamically disables CPU cores in an effort to conserve power when idle. Disabled cores are re-enabled as the CPU load increases once again. Windows is often over-aggressive in its core parking, resulting in excess latency as cores are un-parked to accommodate bursting loads (the most common type of CPU load). Disabling it can make a real difference in system performance. Let me show you how to manually do it. Also if you really care about the environment, you can always turn the heat down and put on a sweater.
The Windows Aero Glass interface for Windows 7 or Vista requires a decent video card, you won’t be able to use it on an old clunker computer. For those worried about performance, sometimes squeezing every last drop requires disabling Aero. With Aero enabled in Windows, Pro Tools will not play back without errors at HW Buffer sizes of 128 and below. Let me show you how to Turn off Aero if you want to use lower HW Buffer sizes.
I'll be working as Audio Director for OddTales, creating music and sound design for their debut title ‘The Last Night’, a 2.5D, open world cinematic platformer in the vein of Flashback, Blade Runner and the Oddworld series.
I first met Tim (Soret, OddTales founder and lead artist/designer) whilst he was visiting Boston, at the same time he was starting to assemble the multi-national team for The Last Night (TLN). When he showed me the original game-jam version of the game, which was made in 6 days, I was immediately struck by the quality of the handcrafted pixel art of Tim and his brother Adrien.
I'll be working for Space Bear Development as Sound Designer on their latest online game "Galaxy Heist". It aims to bring the world of skilled FPS matches and open world space simulation together so that players can fly in space and run around on each others ships in the most seamless way possible. Not only that but players are able to board other players ships as well, for fun, or by force if the other players ship has been disabled. Once on board players can take what they want, steal data from the computers, or just kill the opposing crew members for a bit of extra cash.
